it’s quiet

October 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

in the office right now, so I’m going to waste some time.

10 THINGS THAT MAKE ME :D
01. The new PEPSI logo = so sick. Seeing material like this always makes me do a 180 when I just want to quit.
02. Goat cheese medallions from WholeFoods.
03. No-name vintage leather camera cases, with a shoulder strap. So darling!
04. Related to above, vintage Vuitton messenger bags, pochettes, and portfolios. I don’t even know what I would put in them, but that’s the case with every container / tin / bag / clutch I buy.
05. Newly-won Chanel Classic CC Turnlock earrings off eBay, in gold from Autumn ‘95.
06. Older, metal, fold-up Polaroid models, trimmed with leather! That would seem like such a luxury item today.
07. The T brothers at work. They’re so fun to be around and they definitely improve the overall mood.
08. Baby is on his way home and I get to see him today!:)
09. Lime Ice Love Quotes scarf, worn with grey jeans and navy flats: inspired by Lela Rose’s Spring ‘09 RTW collection.
10. The Peking Duck roll I had from Yushi today! I love Peking Duck, and even though I had my doubts because it was so cheap, the sushi did not disappoint!

My ‘40′ vintage gas station number sign arrived last week, and I’m hoping when I move out I can set it up somewhere central as a reminder to persevere if I really want change at work, with friends, in life. New additions to my newfound love for vintage include #05, and hopefully #06 (I did so much research in the past two days to really know and understand what I want in an old Polaroid model) as well as #03 to protect my soon-to-be outdated investment. And you know, to accessorize. :}

introducing: the cast

If my workplace were a reality show, the characters would be as follows:

TT, Triple Threat
She’s intelligent, poised, and so chic it kills me. As a bonus, she’s also super humble and polite, which she gets brownie points for.

GND, Girl Next Door
Sweet and down-to-earth, with a great sense of humor. She even has the ‘girl-next-door’ look. I love this girl, and if she ever left, two words: hara kiri.

MF, Miss Feisty
Extremely sarcastic 99% of the time, and stands up to our boss as if she wasn’t aware he could do worse than to fire her.

OPW, Overprivileged Wannabe
Loves thinking of herself as a celebrity and will seize any opportunity to talk about how she’s gotten special treatment at a store, a salon, yadda yadda. Still financially dependent upon her parents for rent and squeezes every penny out of them when they visit her in town. Sometimes reminds me of a catalogue for the blind after recent shopping sprees. I wonder if she charges that to her parents, as well.

DWC, Dirty Wild Child
Has held a bajillion different odd-jobs, which only add to her experience as a well-rounded person wielding useful knowledge pertaining to random aspects of life. Smokes and probably does drugs. Has the fashion sense of a hipster tweaked with sophistication, but also looks as if she could use a shower and some eye-makeup remover. And facewash. And a pumice stone.

THW, The Hard Worker
Quite a decent person, is always willing to get the job done, is always polite. Very easy to get along with and confide in, super sweet and quite optimistic.  We like her.

+

This list shall be continued! And this all came about because I was thinking about how Triple Threat’s outfit was absolutely killer today. Slim black dress pants and pumps as usual, but a TDF teal and silver-threaded tweed jacket (possibly Chanel? God knows she could afford it.), paired with a matching teal scarf and a (definitely) Chanel bag. Not the classic 2.55s, but a newer one that just came out recently. Flawless!

fashion is pain

September 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

My new Prada glasses garnered many compliments, but alas, they severely limit my peripheral vision. Especially because I am lacking in the nose bridge department. So I may need to make yet another trip through Commute Hell (read: Flushing) to fix that.

On a fashiony-related note, I’m starting to think that maybe I’d like to be the next RM or LM. That would be incredibly fun and creative and stimulating! And CHALLENGING! What a change that would be. What. A. Change. But really, I think it would be so great to just drown in leather swatches, design hardware with beautiful contours, and market a line. What I would do for the funds to be able to invest in a creative hobby and turn it into my life’s work…

aging taste

September 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m getting old! This year, I acquired a taste for taupe, black coffee (ok, a bit diluted, but still), leopard print (que horreur!), statement jewelry (what I used to think only old grandmas or tai tais wore), vintage finds (old grandmas, again), crocodile leather, tortoiseshell, and clutches (kind of went overboard here). Is this alarming or what?

If you asked me what I want for Christmas (it’s early, I know) I would tell you:
A condo and a 401K with a sweeeeet return. I SOUND LIKE A 35-Y.O.

I still don’t enjoy wine or other types of alcohol, though. Okay, maybe dessert wine. But even little kids wouldn’t hesitate gulping that stuff down..
